“Precious peoples metals” is me expressing gratefulness for people, and gratefulness for metal. These pieces were created in my fall semester foundry class of 2023.

This class gave me a greater appreciation for things made out of metal, and reminded me how impressive humanity is for coming up with things like metal casting. I had never worked with these materials or processes before so I ended up going with my first idea and just putting my energy into making it through classes.

These figures were created to comfort me and keep me moving in a forward motion. I use faceless figures in my work a lot - they seem to help me create even when I don’t feel like I have something to say.

For class presentation, I tried an assemblage approach using coloured thread, sticks I collected on a walk home from school, an old t-shirt, and a stool from school. The intention being to just make something and let my intuition move me forward.
