GUIDING THOUGHTS EP.6 : PUT IT IN NEUTRAL
The meaning of “Joy Based Resistance” sounds pretty straight forward. Sounds like a “fIght-the-darkness-with-light” kind of thing. It feels like the phrase was made to justify things that are fun. Or I guess it feels that way to me since there is not much to resist in my daily life. I’m sure if I try harder I can find things to resist and push against. There is certainly a lake of enraging and confusing topics to swim in.
I don’t feel like the best judge of anything. Who am I to see the future?
So I am pulled along.
Would it help me in conversation to add that I want to resist evil with light? Would that help people grasp what I’m about? My compass is my personal experiences and what I’ve learned from generations of humanity verifying the highly recommended do’s and don’ts.
Sometimes I feel my awareness of the do’s and don’ts is weakened. I am safe and calm in my place right now, but it is guaranteed that other places are in chaos. I can watch the world go by. I can watch interactions unfold. Do I resist the chaos by living my life? Or do I resist the chaos by wading into the trash pool and picking up the commonly agreed upon garbage?
Maybe not good to be asking those questions. Maybe I should be fuelled by the feeling of empathy. I’m not sure how instantaneous the connection between empathy and taking action should be.
Is it joyous?
Is it raging?
Is it neutral?
Is a person better if they just “hop to it?” Research tells me yes.
Research also informs me of a “saviour complex.” But I dislike that phrase. There are worse complexes to have no? Let a person believe in themselves to help.
So about trying…
What do I try?
Perhaps I should notice what neutral feels like. There is that place between breaths where there are no expectations. Like just sitting and looking around. No expectations. No thoughts. Just here I am. That can say a lot too.
